Circle Bath Open Knee Surgery Film

All Scrubbed Up at Circle Bath

Halo Films has a privileged front row seat at two knee replacement operations

Specialist knee surgeon Neil Bradbury invited Halo Films to film two Total Knee Replacement procedures. Although this is not our first time filming an operation in Circle Bath Hospital, the team at Halo Films felt very honoured to be invited back to film in such a unique environment. Not for the squeamish, the end video will allow viewers to witness the operation whilst Lead Surgeon Neil talks the viewer through every step. Intended to prepare patients for their operation, we highly recommend you don’t try to follow along at home.

Gruesome yet Awesome, the film is undergoing editing and will be on Neil Bradbury’s and Circle Bath’s website soon.

Laurie goodwin post

Meet Our New Edit Apprentice

Laurie joined the Halo team in September 2014 after applying for a Creative Skillset Apprenticeship role through Cirencester College. He is a promising video editor who really puts his all into projects. With a keen interest in film, Laurie works part time at his local cinema keeping his vast film knowledge up to date.

As the Edit Apprentice, Laurie looks after all our hard drives holding a mere 100+ TB of data. He also joins the team on shoots, looks after all the film equipment, helps source locations and makes the best cups of coffee. In the short time that Laurie has been with us he has already cut two of our event videos and transcribed many interviews and is quickly becoming our favourite video editor!

Turning the Tables and Filming Ourselves

This week we needed to get infront of the camera ourselves. We have a networking event in the lovely Rummer Hotel in Bristol to show how our Intercast films can help people in the financial services sector.

Obviously, the best way to talk about the power of video as a form of communication is to use video to do it…. so Peter got his chance to be interviewed.

Andy was on camera and one of our year 10 work experience students, Emma from Rednock School in Dursley helped us with the sound.

Fitness chain Pure Gym are recruiting – are you looking for a change in direction?

Halo have worked closely with the fitness industry for many years, and we always enjoy a bit of fun with the smaller promotional film requirements which we can work on alongside our larger projects and can offer a quick turnaround for our clients.

The Training Room, who recruit and develop Fitness Instructors on behalf of their clients, recently asked Halo to create a graphics and stills based advert to be played on screens in gyms around the country to raise awareness of the recruitment campaign to a captive audience of fitness fanatics. The message is simple, the graphics eye-catching and with the music pumping in the gym there is no need for sound or voiceover. It again highlights the versatility and endless opportunities of film as a method of communication.

Marketing Manager, Libby Herbert was delighted with the result, ‘The Training Room has worked with Halo Films for the last 3 years and will continue to do so due to the quality and professionalism of their business. Nothing is too much and their quick turnarounds enable us to get campaigns up and running with no problems. They grasp our messages very well and become part of our team.’

Thanks Libby, always a pleasure working with you!

Marketing Apprenticeship

We are looking for a new Apprentice.

Over the past three years Halo Films has embraced the idea of workplace apprenticeships. We are now looking for a 4th young person to join our team as a Marketing Apprentice.

So far we have employed people to work in and learn about the film making side of the production business. This time we are looking for someone who is excited about marketing and communication in a fast moving digital world. Halo Films wants to punch above its weight in marketing itself and attracting new work. We hope our future apprentice will be part of that.

The apprenticeship is a Level 2 Marketing qualification with the educational side of the scheme run by Cirencester College. A full job description and details of how to apply can can be found on the national apprenticeship database here: Marketing Apprentice

The role will be based in our Old Wheelwrights office just North of Bristol and is part of our continuing drive to increase and promote creative jobs in rural areas.

If this position might be of interest to someone you know, please pass the link on.

Filming at Celtic Manor

Autumn Gold

Recently the Halo Films’ team traveled to the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport for the first day’s filming of a corporate video for St James’s Place Wealth Management (SJP). The beautiful resort was chosen as the location for interviewing St James’s Place partners, Castle Court Wealth Management. This Cardiff Based firm of financial advisors will feature as a successful case study for other potential partners, telling the story of what it is like to become part of SJP.

We filmed interviews with Castle Court directors, Jack Price and Andy Booth in the stylish Terry M restaurant and followed that up with a few rounds of golf with some of their own clients.

As luck would have it, we had the first sunny day in early November, allowing us to take full advantage of such a great location.

New Additions to the Team

Tess Benjamin and Sam Warr joined the Halo Team earlier this year. Sam’s role is a ‘Editing Assistant Apprentice’ and Tess’ is a ‘Research Apprentice’.

After a successful apprenticeship scheme last year with Andy we enthusiastically joined the apprenticeship programme again. Once again this year we had many applicants from all over the country and even a couple from other countries.

New Apprentices

Halo Films was one of the first media companies in the South West of England to have an apprentice. Two years ago our digital assistant, Andy joined as part of the Creative Skillset, Government backed scheme. He became a full time member of the team in August 2012. The media apprenticeships are fully regulated and provide support for the employer as well as a structured entry into the industry for the young people involved.

So, in August 2013 two new people will start work at Halo, Sam Warr and Tess Benjamin. Their apprenticeship will be run through Cirencester College, with much of their formal training done there.

These are exciting times for Halo as these new roles further cements our relationships with local colleges and Universities. Being a business in a tough industry to start out in, we see a major part of our job as being aware of our social responsibility. Our new apprentices are part of the future and we are proud of that.
